Challenge 10 continued

Julio looked at my blog. He expressed a lot of interest in the way it was set up. My pictures, blogs, and widgets all seemed to catch his attention. He clicked on a few of my links to see what they were all about. He told me that nothing really distracted him because he enjoyed everything on my blog. He gave me suggestions to add blogs more often and to make some more useful links that other bloggers can check out for more information on how to blog.

Challenge 10: Audit of Blog

I have had 8 posts (this being my 9th) on my blog since the beginning of March. Most of these blogs have been through challenges brought about by my teacher. I haven't received a whole lot of comments on my blogs, but I have still had some comments. All of my comments were from people that are overseas. None of my posts receieved more than 1 comment each. My favorite blog was writing freely about what we were going to do for the holidays. I didn't change my blog theme because I didn't want to. I have a lot of widgets and I think it's the perfect amount.

How Teens Are Using Their Cell Phones: Challenge 9

I believe these numbers are very accurate. Some people talk to others in different ways via a cell phone. Sometimes people use the technology of their cell phone a lot more than others. If I had to be put into a portion on the pie graph, I think I would be right around the "over 100" to "over 200" texts a day section. I tend to text a lot because I like to keep in-touch with my friends. I also like to use the calling for my family and mobile web when I need to look something up when I'm not near a computer. Most of these numbers seem to suit my friends pretty well. I know most of my friends have cell phones and they say they would "die" without them. Nowadays people tend to rely on technology a lot more than they use too. We tend to feel completely lost if we don't have a computer, cell phone, or iPod right by our side because new technology has become our lives. People are always wanting the next big thing and when one person has it, everyone else wants it. Then, if they don't get it, they feel left out and don't seem to "fit in" or be as popular as the kids or people who have the newer things.

Blogging Challenge 5

http://studentchallenge.edublogs.org/2010/04/05/march-2010-challenge-5/

I personally don't think a creative commons license is needed for our blogs. The pictures and other things on our blogs are okay to change because I don't think it is that big of a deal. If people can think of something creative to do with the picture, they should be aloud to create and express it. I also have people from both the blogging challenge and other people I don't know around the world looking at my blog, so I still don't think it's a big deal if someone I don't know wants to use my pictures and other photos.

I am reading "Animal Farm" in my English class right now, so i think this is a very good clip to show about the book/movie. It shows an actually clip from the beginning of the movie. I hope you enjoy it.

Challenge 4: What do you do at school or at home to help protect the environment?

At home, we turn off our lights when we don't need them so we can save electricity. We also use the reusable shopping bags. This saves a lot of plastic from being wasted over time. Another thing our school finds very important, which it is, is recycling anything that can be recycled so we can reuse this stuff in the future.

Must see Seymour (Challenge 3)

A must see place in Seymour is the giant hamburger. Seymour is the "Home of the Hamburger." There is a tribute to the hamburger and Hamburger Charlie towards the middle of the city. The hamburger is placed here on a very large grill that really works. This is a very cool monument that you can go to see whenever you you want. Here is a link to the official website of the "Home of the Hamburger."

Pictures of Yourself

Students should be able to use real photos of themselves in a blog when they are showing a fun time that they had with their friends and family. If its just showing a fun time that someone had, they shouldn't be told that they can't put a picture of themselves on their own blog.

Challenge 1 in the March 2010 challenge

Challenge 1

I think that you should view my blog. I have some very interesting posts and I think you could learn a few things from most of them. I tend to have a new blog every once in a while, so keep checking my blog to see what new and interesting thing I wrote about.

Learning

The biggest hurdle I have with learning is that normally when I'm at school, I'm way too tired to focus on my work. It's hard to focus when you are falling in and out of sleep. I can stay awake and enjoy learning mat, however. If I could learn anything in the world right now, I would want to learn how to become a sports radio broadcaster. I think this would be a lot of fun. When I get out of high school, I would like to go to college. About five years from now, I plan on being a very successful person in an electrical engineering job. It would be nice to work for a place like Plexus. If not, I could look up ideas on this electrical engineering website.

Web 2.0 Tool

The choice I made was the Animoto video. Animoto is completely free. You can present pictures and create videos. You can use this site to show a video for a class project so the people have a visual of what you are talking about. Overall, this tool seems very useful for presenting things in a whole new way for people.

Me as a Writer

Lately I think I have become a better all around writer. I'm still not a great writer, but I have learned a lot of good new techniques. I have faced "writers block" before and it's not fun. I still think I have improved in my writing a lot though. One thing I do well in writing is making good conversations, especially moving the tag around and not always putting it at the end. One thing I still struggle with is using more imagery.

The Country I Want To Communicate With

I chose Ethiopia because it is a really cool country. I like how they use the Amarigna, Oromigna, and English languages in their culture to communicate. If I could ask them something it would be, "How did you learn to use all of these different languages?"

Donald Driver Autograph

I get to see a lot of my family at Christmas time, but my grandpa and grandma normally can't make it. So, yesterday at my uncle's house, we got to have Christmas with my grandpa and grandma. I was very happy to see them. After everybody there settled down, we started to open presents. I was handed my gift and I opened it up. It was an official Donald Driver jersey, but that wasn't all. I've gotten a jersey signed by Donald Driver before, but this one was signed personally to me by him. It read "To Lance, Go Pack Go, Donald Driver #80." It was definitely one of my favorite gifts ever because Donald Driver is my favorite football player of all time. Now, I just have to find a frame to put it up in along with my picture of Donald and I.

Goals

My goal for the end of the semester is to have at least a 3.4GPA. I think I had a pretty good first semester, but it still could have been better. For the second semester I am hoping for at least a 3.5GPA.
